A Late Summer Celebration in Sutton

On 21 September 2024 we joined the Rosehill community in Sutton for their Family Fun Day, a lovely late summer event that brought neighbours, families and local groups together. Community fun days like this are some of our favourite bookings. They are relaxed, friendly and full of people who are there simply to enjoy themselves, and there is always a great sense of local pride.

Our team brought a mix of circus fun to the day, giving children and adults the chance to watch, join in and try something new. The weather was kind, the crowd was brilliant and the whole event had a warm, welcoming feel from start to finish.

Bringing the Circus to the Community

Community events work best when everyone can take part, whatever their age or ability. That is why we focus on interactive entertainment. At a fun day like Rosehill, our tutors set up a drop-in circus skills area where children can try juggling, plate spinning, diabolo and flower stick, with a tutor on hand to help them get started and build their confidence.

Giant bubbles are another favourite at community events. They draw children from all over the site and give younger ones something magical to chase, while older children and adults enjoy watching the biggest bubbles float away. Many families end up spending a good part of the afternoon with us, moving between the bubbles and the circus skills area.

Why Councils and Community Groups Book Us

  • Inclusive activities. Our team are SEND specialists and Makaton trained, so everyone can join in.
  • Interactive fun. People do not just watch; they have a go, which creates real engagement.
  • Flexible set-up. We can work on grass, in a car park, in a hall or under a gazebo.
  • Local performers. With team members across the UK, including London and the South East, we keep travel costs down.
  • Experience. We have been providing circus entertainment since 2001, at events of every size.

Community Engagement That Lasts

A good fun day leaves people feeling more connected to their area, and circus is a great way to make that happen. Learning a skill together breaks the ice. We often see parents and children who arrived separately end up practising side by side, and neighbours chatting while their children take turns on the diabolo. Some children go home having learnt to spin a plate or juggle for the first time, and that sense of achievement stays with them.

We also see how events like this help local organisations connect with families. Stalls, services and community groups benefit from the extra footfall that entertainment brings, and our performers are always happy to point people towards other activities on the day.

Entertainment Ideas for Fun Days

If you are planning a community event, here are a few combinations that work well:

  • A drop-in circus skills workshop running all afternoon, with giant bubbles nearby.
  • A stiltwalker to welcome families at the entrance and roam the site.
  • A short circus show on the main stage to bring everyone together.
  • An LED glow or fire finale if your event runs into the evening.

Planning Tips for Organisers

A few small things make a big difference on the day. Place the circus skills area somewhere visible but slightly away from loud speakers, so children can hear the tutors. Give the bubble artists an open patch of grass downwind of the main crowd, so the bubbles drift over people rather than into stalls. And think about shade or shelter, as a gazebo keeps both performers and families comfortable whatever the weather does.

Fun Day FAQs

Do you need power or a stage?

No. Our workshops and walkabout acts are self-contained, and we only need a safe, clear space.

How many children can take part?

Drop-in sessions run continuously, so there is no limit. We bring enough tutors and kit for busy events.

Can you work with tight budgets?

Yes. Tell us your budget and we will suggest the best mix of acts to make the most of it.

Thank You, Rosehill

A big thank you to everyone at the Rosehill Community Family Fun Day for having us. It was a pleasure to be part of such a friendly event, and we hope to see you again next year.

It was also lovely to see local groups and volunteers working together to make the day happen. Events like this rely on people giving up their time, and the result was a fun day that felt genuinely shared by the whole community.
